Surender Munjal
Professor Surender Munjal is Professor of International Business at Aston Business School. He is a world-leading expert on cross-border acquisitions and alliances, with a particular focus on emerging markets. His research has been widely published, in top-tier journals across international business, economics, and management, including the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), Global Strategy Journal (GSJ), Journal of Product Innovation Management (JPIM), Journal of World Business (JWB), British Journal of Management (BJM), Cambridge Journal of Economics (CJE), Journal of International Management (JIM), Journal of Business Research (JBR), International Business Review (IBR), and Management and Organization Review (MOR).He has published over fifty journal articles, edited three special issues and three books. He currently serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals, including Production and Operations Management (POM), International Business Review (IBR), Journal of Business Research (JBR), Management International Review (MIR), Asian Business and Management (ABM), and Foreign Trade Review (FTR). Professor Munjal has played a vital role in advancing the Academy of International Business (AIB) and Academy of Management (AOM) communities in the UK, India, and the South Asia region. He serves on the advisory board of the AIB South Asia Chapter, providing strategic guidance for the chapter’s development. From 2017 to 2023, he led the UK and Ireland Chapter as Convenor of the Doctoral Colloquium, supporting early-career scholars across the region. Professor Munjal is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM). He has held various key roles in INDAM since its inception, including the founding Secretary of INDAM and President-Elect for the 2026–2028 term. A professionally qualified Chartered Accountant and Management Accountant, Professor Munjal has previously held academic positions at the University of Leeds and the University of Delhi. At Leeds, he served as Director of the James E. Lynch India and South Asia Business Centre for nine years (2013–2022).
